So it was great to join Osman and Grace out on the road with London Ambulance Service NHS Trust to see first-hand the extraordinary work that our paramedics do under enormous pressure.

My shift took patients to three major hospitals. As the hours progressed so did the pressures. One hospital started to divert ambulances away because the emergency department was full. It is an absolute travesty that 13 years of Tory government have delivered the longest waiting lists and lowest patient satisfaction in history.

It will fall to Labour to get our NHS back on its feet and fit for the future. We will do this by delivering:

– 2 million more appointments a year to cut waiting lists

– double the number of CT and MRI scanners to get patients seen faster

– dedicated mental health support in every school and a community mental health hub in every community

– 700,000 extra NHS dentistry appointments

…and a 10 year plan for health and social care to deliver the long term reform we need so that our NHS is there for us when we need it – as a public service free at the point of use!
