More than 400,000 police records have been lost, compromising police investigations and making it harder to bring criminals to justice.
I’ve raised this as an urgent matter with the Home Secretary demanding information of the full impact on Ilford North and vitally how we can fix this very serious problem.
This is completely unacceptable. Unfortunately, it seems inevitable that as a result of this mess criminals will escape punishment, victims will miss out on justice and our community will be less safe.
Combined with the massive backlog in courts, and after ten years of police cuts, the Government has a poor record on crime and policing. It’s a priority for me and the Labour Party and we will keep on holding the Government to account and demanding better for our community.
