I’d like to congratulate everyone collecting their GCSE results today on a job well done during a difficult year. I’d especially like to thank teachers and staff for everything they’ve done for students across our borough.

I’m extremely angry and disappointed that BTEC students still don’t have their results and we’re on the case with this.

Yesterday I visited Oaks Park High School with Steve Reed MP and Judith Garfield for Havering & Redbridge to meet with students, parents and teachers to discuss the fall out from the A-Level debacle. You can see the video below.

The Government have really let down young people this year. Everyone understands these are extraordinary times with unique pressures, but that doesn’t justify or excuse the staggering incompetence on display.

Whether it’s further study, an apprenticeship or employment, I wish students across Ilford North all the very best with their next steps. If you need my help or advice, drop me an e-mail on wes@redbridgelabour.org.uk.
