Some good news for a change! Burglary numbers are falling across the Borough – down 8.77% compared with last month and 20% down on this time last year.

The Police and Council focus on this is making a difference. Burglary remains a priority crime for the Police to tackle, automatic number plate recognition CCTV cameras are in place across the Borough and communities’ vigilance is helping.

BUT… I’m certainly not complacent. We know that this can be a case of swings and roundabouts and that numbers can too easily rise. I did want to share this good news to reassure you that, for now, the numbers are moving in the right direction.

My overall view is that the biggest risk to community safety is cuts to policing. I’m continuing to gather signatures on my Parliamentary petition. Do sign here: http://www.wesstreeting.org/Police
