Protect face-to-face banking in Ilford North
In the last three years, four bank branches have permanently closed their doors in Ilford North. We have lost bank branches in Barkingside, Gants Hill and Hainault. I am concerned that face-to-face banking services are becoming increasingly scarce.

Protect face-to-face banking in Ilford North
For many customers, particularly older and disabled people, in-person banking is extremely valuable. Being able to discuss issues with another person face-to-face can often be much quicker and easier than trying to navigate what can sometimes be confusing automated systems.
Bank branches are also an integral part of our high streets. By increasing footfall to shopping areas, they in turn support other local shops and businesses. It is unacceptable for banks making record profits to force customers online by cutting down on these in-person services.
We know that it is much easier to close a good bank branch than it is to open one and once a bank branch closes, it closes for good.
The Government’s response to this worrying trend has been very disappointing. Despite appeals to keep high street bank branches open, the Government has repeatedly failed to act to protect in-person banking.

Protect face-to-face banking in Ilford North
We, the undersigned, are extremely disappointed at the number of bank branches that have closed in Ilford North in recent years. We support the need for face-to-face banking, understanding the importance of in-person services for both customers and local communities. We urge the Government to act to keep bank branches open on our high streets and protect essential face-to-face banking.
