Calling all parents, teachers and anyone else who cares about education! This one is for you… I asked the Chancellor about school and further education funding cuts and if he understood why teachers were so angry that his budget gave more money for potholes than schools. His response was astonishing. You can watch it below.

The Chancellor had a chance to show that he understood why schools are so angry – and he blew it.

His claim that schools aren’t facing real terms cuts doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. In Redbridge, schools have already lost teachers and teaching assistants and 58 of 65 schools will face cuts. Class sizes are going up. £4 million will be lost between 2015 & 2020, which amounts to £90 per-pupil loss. You can see data for individual schools on www.schoolcuts.org.uk.

I regularly speak up on education issues in Parliament on behalf of our schools and spend time throughout the year visiting schools and talking to heads and staff. I’ll keep on putting pressure on the Government to fund our schools properly.
