Ilford North's newly elected Member of Parliament has taken up his seat in the House of Commons.
The ceremony, which took place in the House of Commons, requires all MPs to 'swear in' by taking an oath or making an affirmation. As a member of the Church of England, Wes Streeting MP chose to take the religious oath of allegiance with the New Testament: "I swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God."
Wes Streeting MP said: "It was a daunting and humbling moment standing in the chamber of the House of Commons to take up my place as the newly elected MP for Ilford North. Every day that I arrive in Westminster, I will carry with me the voices and concerns of the people who sent me to represent them and I will do my very best to protect and defend their interests. I will be forever grateful to those who put their faith in me, I will work hard for every constituent - however they voted - and I hope that my efforts over the next five years will show that I don't just work hard at election time."
