Wes meets Avanti Court school council members

Wes attended assembly at Avanti Court primary school in Barkingside to award badges to new school council members.

The pupils have chosen class representatives to feed back to the school leadership about ways in which their school can be an even better place to learn and play.

Following the visit, Wes said:

"One of the best bits of my job is doing school visits - whether it's inviting young people to Parliament or going to schools to talk about the importance of democracy. Here's the Ilford Recorder report on my visit to Avanti Court Primary School.

"I had a great time at Avanti Court presenting their school ambassadors with their badges. They'll be playing an active role in representing their peers to the school's leadership so that can pupils can play an active role as good citizens in shaping their school and local community. I'm looking forward to welcoming them to Parliament and hope they get a lot out of their experience."
