Today at Prime Minister’s Questions I raised the horrifying murder of two small children in our community on Sunday night. Our hearts go out to their poor mother, but there are no words that can bring comfort to her after such an outrage. She is being supported by specialist officers from the Met and I will offer her whatever support she needs from me or my office.

I know that this news will have caused fear in the community, but I want to reassure you that there is no wider public risk resulting from this incident. The Police aren’t looking for the suspect.

My thanks go to the Police and London Ambulance Service personnel who responded to this appalling crime. They really are the best of us.

At PMQs I raised the plight of those who are trapped in homes where they do not feel safe. I’ve joined the Shadow Home Secretary in calling for a £75m ring-fenced fund for organisations that provide domestic abuse services. I wasn’t happy with the Government’s reply and will continue to press them on this.
