Today we were called into Parliament for a statement from the Prime Minister. I told the PM what Ilford North residents have been saying to me by email:

– People who voted Leave oppose the PM’s deal because it fails to deliver the kind of sovereignty they were promised, leaving the UK subject to EU rules and European Court of Justice decisions – but with no say over the rules
– People who voted Remain oppose this deal because it fails to deliver economic security and has only vague statements of aspiration about the long-term – effectively Brexit in a blindfold

Today it became clear that we’ll still be locked in negotiations with the EU over trade and co-operation for years, if not decades.

It was also clear today that the majority of MPs oppose the PM’s deal, so it is absurd she is still negotiating on this basis.

I think it’s time for Theresa May to go back to the people and ask: are you happy to leave the EU on these terms, or would you prefer to remain in the EU?
