Wes raises concerns over policing of the 'Sikh Lives Matter' protest

Following a complaint from a constituent, Wes raised concerns about the policing of the Sikh Lives Matter demonstration in London.

Wes raised the case of a particular constituent, but also flagged wider concerns raised by other MPs about the policing of other protests recently, including student protests in central London. You can watch Wes's question to the Leader of the House of Commons here.

Wes says:

"There is an important balance to be struck between protecting law and order and defending free protest. I'm not convinced the police are getting the balance right and I believe the policing of the Sikh Lives Matter protest was disproportionate. I've asked the Government to consider a review into the policing of protest so that the public can be assured that the Met are getting the balance right."
