I am proud to have had London Mayor Sadiq Khan with me in Clayhall Park today to launch my campaign to be re-elected as Ilford North's MP.
I'm standing on my record of standing up for Ilford North. People know from my record that I don't just call at election time and that I have fought relentlessly for you - in Parliament and in our community.
On June 8th, you need to decide who you trust to fight your corner on issues that really matter - from saving the A&E at King George Hospital to fighting the cuts that are hitting every single school in Ilford North.
In the short time that has passed since you put your faith in me two years ago, I've shown that I can get results - like successfully lobbying our Mayor for step-free access at Newbury Park and for more neighbourhood police to tackle burglary.
I've shown through my record that I'm not a 'yes man' who'll nod through government policies that hurt our community and that I'll always put your best interests first.
I'm proud to be standing for election again as Labour's candidate. I come from a working class family and represent the best traditions of our party: that it's not where you come from in life that should determine where you can go and what you can achieve. That our government should stand for the interests of the many, not a privileged few.
However you usually vote, I hope you will put your trust in me again as a strong local MP and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail!
