Labour's candidate for London Mayor joined Ilford North MP Wes Streeting and RedRAG campaigners to back action to tackle congestion hotspot.
Sadiq Khan has been visiting areas with high levels of air pollution across London and measured the air pollution at Redbridge Roundabout.
Sadiq met campaigners Angela Shae and Alan Haymes from the Redbridge Roundabout Action Group, as well as Clayhall councillor Gurdial Bhamra to listen to residents' concerns about the roundabout. He said: “The junction is a nightmare for hundreds of people every day and TfL must now sort out a solution that reduces congestion for busy local families.
“Huge credit must go to the action group for getting TfL to look at the issue seriously.”
Wes says: “The Redbridge Roundabout Action Group has been working hard to highlight this issue for some time now, and it’s great to see Sadiq here today hearing their concerns.
“For too long we have seen inaction on this problem from TfL, with the result that travel and pollution problems are becoming worse and worse.
"Redbridge's Council has been trying to get TfL to act - and I'm particularly grateful to the Leader of the Council, Jas Athwal, for his support - but ultimately we need action at a London level. I hope Sadiq Khan is elected as London's next Mayor to take action after years of warm words but no delivery from Boris Johnson and the Conservatives."
