This morning I gave a speech to the Fabian Society arguing that if Labour is serious about a 'jobs first Brexit' then we need to lead the way to keeping Britain in the Single Market after we leave the European Union.
Instead, we start 2018 with the Labour Party as the single biggest barrier to it. I say this because if we decided to lead the way tomorrow it would be a game changing moment that would command a majority in the House of Commons to protect jobs, livelihoods and the tax receipts that fund our public services.
