16864960_1214093861973514_6353334939763234516_n.jpgIt was a huge honour to lay a wreath at the Falklands War memorial in Port Stanley this week and reflect on the sacrifice of those who fought to liberate the islands.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the conflict which claimed the lives of 225 British servicemen and would see many hundreds more wounded.

I was in the Falkland Islands on a cross party delegation. During the short visit, we saw the fruits of the island's success 35 years on: a prosperous and thriving community with a bright future.

Regardless of the future challenges the islands may face, I'm absolutely clear that I will continue to support the Falkland Islanders' right to self-determination.
