Eddie Izzard launches local election campaign

Redbridge Labour's campaign for the May local elections was officially launched in Barkingside on Tuesday by Hollywood star and comedian Eddie Izzard.

Ilford North's Parliamentary Candidate, Wes Streeting, welcomed Eddie Izzard to Barkingside High Street as part of an event to encourage shoppers to vote Labour on May 22nd. They were joined by Shadow London Minister Sadiq Khan, Ilford South MP Mike Gapes and Redbridge Labour Leader Jas Athwal - who is campaigning to be the next Leader of Redbridge Council.

Wes Streeting said: "It was fantastic to be joined by Eddie Izzard. These elections are absolutely crucial for the future of our community. Redbridge Labour is running a positive campaign based on policies that will make a real difference to the lives of residents. Having Eddie Izzard along was a fun way of making a serious point: make sure you use your vote on May 22nd."

The local elections will take place on the same day as the European elections. If you haven't registered to vote, you can download a form from Redbridge Council here. You have until 6th May to get registered, so act now!
