Only One of Ilford's MP's Votes To Scrap Bedroom Tax

And it wasn't Lee Scott!

Today, Labour MP's - including Ilford South's Mike Gapes - were in the House of Commons to support a Bill to repeal the Bedroom Tax, which is hitting families, particularly those with disabled children, very hard. Not a single Conservative MP turned up to support them - or even to defend the policy they voted for.

Although Labour's Bill passed the first hurdle, the Tory-led government is very unlikely to give the Bill the time it needs to proceed Parliament.

Wes Streeting, Labour's Parliamentary Candidate for Ilford North, said: "Only one of Ilford's MP's turned up today to scrap this damaging government policy. Unsurprisingly, Lee Scott has failed to use this opportunity to support the repeal of the bedroom tax, which has hit many of his constituents hard. Ed Miliband has been clear that a Labour government will repeal the bedroom tax and if I am elected as Ilford North's MP, you can count on me to be there to support him."
