Anger at King George Spearpoint Surgery Closure

It has been announced that the Spearpoint Surgery, the GP practice relocated to King George Hospital from Aldborough Hatch, is set to close.

Wes Streeting, Labour councillor for Aldborough Ward and MP for Ilford North said:

"This move will surprise precisely no-one involved in the fight to keep the GP surgery in Aldborough Hatch. Residents and councillors warned the NHS that the new surgery would not be suitable for local patients, but we were ignored by NHS England. Now, the GP-led Clinical Commissioning Group have taken over responsibility for GP provision and have had to pick up the pieces.

"As well as being Ilford North's MP, I'm also one of Aldborough's Labour councillors. Myself, Cllr John Howard and Cllr Debbie Kaur-Thiara will be working with the Council to see if we can get a new GP surgery in Aldborough Hatch.

"I'm concerned that the plan is to relocate patients from the Spearpoint Surgery to other local GP practices. In my experience, these practices are already struggling to meet demand."
