"I'm proud to represent Aldborough Ward on Redbridge Council, alongside Cllrs Debbie Kaur-Thiara and John Howard. I'm also a local resident and live in the ward in Barkingside, just off Horns Road. During my previous time as the Member of Parliament for Ilford North I had been undertaking my duties as a ward councillor on an unpaid basis, refusing to accept a councillors' allowance.
"Aldborough is the largest ward in Redbridge geographically, running as far north and east as Forest Road and Romford Road; and south and west as far as Ashurst Drive and the A12. It includes communities in Aldborough Hatch, Newbury Park, Gants Hill and Barkingside. We have some wonderful amenities and community assets, including Fairlop Waters Country Park, Redbridge Cycle Centre, St Peter's Church in Aldborough Hatch, Hargreaves Scout Camp Site and the headquarters of the Barnardo's children's charity. We're also privileged to have the Ilford War Memorial and gardens, which play host to the borough's annual civic remembrance event on Remembrance Sunday.
"Local priorities for us include the upkeep of our local environment, gaining step-free access to the Central Line, concerns about gravel extraction in Aldborough Hatch, and fighting to protect the NHS.
